SAD says CM should apologize to farmers and resign for failing to protect their interests

Chandigarh, Sep 16 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh should have apologized to farmers who had assembled in the State capital on Wednesday for failing to protect their interests in parliament and resigned from his post instead of indulging in a road side drama in a desperate attempt to wash away the anti-farmer tag which would now forever be attached to his name.
In a statement here on Wednesday, former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was ridiculous that at a time when parliament was in session, the chief minister was expressing his views on the roads here instead of directing his MPs to express solidarity with the farming community by voting against the Ordinances being introduced there. “This not only exposes the deceit of the chief minister but is also in line with his past actions including taking false oaths in the name of the holy Gutka Sahab and the Dasam Pitah”.
Giving details of the perfidy practiced by the chief minister, Dr Cheema said first of all Capt Amarinder Singh was directly responsible for amending the State APMC Act (Agriculture Produce Marketing Act) in 2017 immediately after coming to power in the State and including all the provisions he was now making fake protests against. He said the chief minister also formed the Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia committee which appreciated the 2017 amendments besides speaking up for corporatization of agriculture.
