New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Ex-MLA from Rajouri Garden of Delhi Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday joined BJP.
Sirsa joined the party in the presence of Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP General Secretary Dushyant Gautam and other party leaders.
Shekhawat, who is the BJP's in-charge for the upcoming Punjab assembly polls, said Sirsa's induction into the party will definitely be helpful for the upcoming state elections," Shekhawat said.
Sirsa joined the BJP soon after he quit as chief of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
“With gratitude to all office bearers, members, staff & people who worked with me; I am resigning from Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee as President. I will not contest upcoming DSGMC internal elections. My commitment to serve my community, humanity & nation remains the same!,” he said in a tweet.
Later, BJP president JP Nadda welcomed Sirsa and expressed hope that his experience will help the organisation.
"I welcome Shri @mssirsa to the world's largest political family. I am sure his experience & hard work will further strengthen @BJP4India," he tweeted.
Sirsa is a former member of Delhi Legislative Assembly from the Rajouri Garden seat.
