SAD demands case be registered against Jalalpur for Takthu Majra political murder

Chandigarh, Dec 11 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday appealed to Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore to direct the Congress government to order a high level probe into the political murder of Jagir Kaur of Takthu Majra village in Ghanour and registration of criminal case against Ghanour legislator Madan Lal Jalalpur. The SAD will also hold a dharna at Patiala in this regard in front of the SSP office on December 19 which will be headed by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The joint SAD-BJP delegation, which was led by Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and included Dr Daljit Singh Cheema from the SAD and Harjit Singh Grewal from the BJP, said Jagir Kaur died after her husband was falsely implicated in a case and put in jail and the villagers were forced to ostracize the family to such a extent that she could not even avail of medicines. Stating that this oppression had been let loose on the family by the Ghanour legislator who had even forced Jagir Kaur’s family members to leave the house, the SAD-BJP delegation said a murder case should be filed against Jalalpur and the Takthu Majra village Sarpanch Harsangat Singh.
The delegation also gave details about the false case registered against Jagir Kaur’s husband Amir Singh and 40 other villagers by Jalalpur. It also informed the Governor that Jalalpur had even commanded the district police to forcibly pick up the women folk of Akali workers.
