Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Saturday said chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh should own moral responsibility for the breakdown of law and order situation in the State and resign immediately.
In a statement here, former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said Capt Amarinder Singh had failed to do his duty as Home minister. “It seems there is jungle raj in Punjab. We are witnessing rampant killings and armed dacoities. Just yesterday a Shaurya Chakra awardee – Balwinder Singh Sandhu was murdered few days after his security cordon was withdrawn. We also witnessed a Rs 15 crore day light dacoity attempt at Ludhiana yesterday which was foiled by alert citizens and not the police force. There have been three murders in one week in the area under Bhikhiwind police station alone”.
Asking the chief minister to have sympathy with the beleaguered people of the State who were living in fear of gangsters and robbers, Dr Daljit Cheema said the situation had taken a turn for the worse because Capt Amarinder Singh did not have any control over the State’s administration. “Like everything else even law and order duties have been sub let to Congressmen who have become a law unto themselves”, the SAD leader added.
