Russian Open Badminton: Sourabh, Kuhoo-Rohan storm into finals

Vladivostok, (Russia) July 28 (UNI) Indian shuttlers Sourabh Verma in singles, Kuhoo Garg and Rohan Kapoor in mixed doubles progressed into the finals of the Russian Open Badminton Tournament here on Saturday.

Sourabh defeated his Indian counterpart Mithun Manjunath 21-9, 21-15 in straight sets finishing the game in 31 minutes.

Sourabh now faces Japan’s Koki Watanabe on Sunday in the title clash.

While in the mixed doubles pair of Kuhoo Garg and Rohan Kapoor reached finals of Russia open beating Malaysian pair of Chen Tang Jie and Yen Wei Peck in a tight contest by 21-19, 11-21, 22-20 in semifinals.

The Indian doubles pair will play their finals against Vladimir Ivanov of Russia and Min Kyung Kim of Korea.

However, in the men's doubles pair Arun George and Sanyam Shukla faced defeat in the semis against second-seeded Konstantin Abramov and Alexandr Zinchenko 15-21, 19-21.
