Russian mission to UN calls for urgent UNSC meeting

United Nations, Dec 8 (UNI) The Russian mission to the United Nations has requested a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Syria to be held on Monday afternoon, a UN source said on Sunday.
"With regard to the latest developments in Syria and their implications for UNDOF [Disengagement Observer Force], Russia calls for urgent consultations to be convened tomorrow, 9 December, in the afternoon," the UN source told RIA Novosti.
UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo and UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix have been asked to serve as briefers, the source added.
