Russia strengthened Crimea defense with Pantsir-S missile systems in Oct- Military

Moscow, November 30 (Sputnik) The air defense of Russia's Southern Military District was boosted by the deployment of Pantsir-S surface-to-air missile systems in Crimea in October, the district's press service said on Friday.
"The newest [Pantsir-S] complexes were deployed in Crimea in October 2018 under the program to rearm the Southern Military District," the press service said.
Earlier this week, a new S-400 air defense systems unit was put on combat duty near the Crimean town of Dzhankoy, about 12 miles off the Ukrainian border. Three other S-400 units are deployed near the Crimean cities of Feodosia, Yevpatoria and Sevastopol.
The Pantsir-S is a short-to-medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system, which first entered service in 2012.
