Russia slams EU proposal to use Kremlin's sovereign frozen assets for financing Ukraine, warns of reciprocal retaliation

Moscow/Brussels, Dec 5 (UNI) Russia, issuing a scathing criticism of the EU's proposal to use frozen Russian state assets to finance Ukraine's weapons purchaess, has accused Brussels of robbery, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stating that the bloc's open talks concerning the seizure of Moscow's assets reflected a "criminal" mindset.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Zakharova denounced Brussels for considering what she called "theft" after the European Commission outlined plans for a €210 billion (£180bn) "reparations loan" scheme to support Ukraine's military and economic needs, by lending Kyiv sovereign Russian funds, currently frozen in Brussels.
"The European union has become not just an illegitimate institution, but, better yet, a gang that legitimises utterly criminal ideas and decisions," Zakharova said.
