Russia's FSB says detained 2 religious figures for recruiting militants to send to Syria

Moscow, Aug 5 (UNI) The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Monday that it had detained two religious figures in the Tyumen Region for recruiting 19 people who subsequently went to Syria to participate in terrorist activities.

"Two religious figures [Russian citizens] who, on instructions from emissaries of terrorist structures, recruited 19 local residents who subsequently crossed from Russia to Syria to participate in terrorist activities were identified and detained," the FSB said in a statement.
