Moscow, Dec 27 (UNI) The Russian government on Wednesday approved a bill that allows foreign nationals to enter Russia without a visa, using a personalised spectator card, for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup.
"It is proposed to establish the same period for visa-free entry for the spectators of the championship on Russian territory, using a personalised spectator card, both in paper and electronic forms. This period will begin 10 days before the date of the first match of the championship and end on the day of the last match of the championship," an official statement said.
The bill also proposes to provide a free pass on railway transport for the accredited representatives of mass media on the basis of an identity document and accreditation card, the statement further said.
Following the Cabinet's approval, the Bill will be submitted to the Russian Lower House.
The FIFA World Cup 2018 matches will be held in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Sochi.
The opening match between the national teams of Russia and Saudi Arabia will take place on June 14 at Luzhniki stadium in Moscow.
