Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The Rupee on Wednesday advanced by fourteen paise to 71.27 on brisk selling of US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at Forex Market said.

The local unit surged by 56 paise to 70.85 in early trade. During the day it slightly declined but closed positive only at 71.27, up by 14 paise from its previous close.

The domestic unit registered day high and low at 71.35 and 70.84 respectively.

The Rupee shot up because of weak dollar against other world currencies along with rebounding equity market, they added.

The forex market will remain close tomorrow for I-Day, dealers informed.
