Rupee ends weak at 64.03 against USD, 3-week-low

Mumbai, Jan 16 (UNI) The Rupee on Tuesday tumbled down by 55 paise
to 64.03, a three-week-low against US Dollar on rising demand for US
Dollars by bankers and importers alongwith widening trade deficit,
dealers at Forex Market said.
The trade deficit or difference between imports and exports was
USD 14.88 billion in December, up about 41 per cent year-on-year, as
crude oil and gold import bill inflated, according to the Commerce
Ministry data.
The local unit slipped by 12 paise to 63.69 in early trade. Till
the end of the session it heavily down by 55 paise to 64.03 from its
last close, dealers at Forex Market said.
The indian currency registered days high and low at 64.11 and
63.60 respectively.
Strong dollar against other world currencies and negative equity
market pushed the indian currecy down, they added.
