Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) The Rupee on Monday slipped further by nine paise to close at 71.27 against the US Dollar on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, Amid rising crude oil prices dealers at Forex Market said.

The local unit opened on a weak note at 71.34, easing by 16 paise. Till the end of the day it slightly improved from opening level but ended negative only at 71.27, sliding by 9 paise as compared to its last close.

Firm dollar against other world currencies kept the local unit weak, however positive close in the domestic equity market and fresh foreign fund inflows capped losses, they added.

High oscillation was seen during the day as the Indian currency registered day high and low at 71.53 and 71.34 respectively.
