Rupee down by 14 paise against USD

Mumbai, Jan 18 (UNI) The Rupee on Friday depreciated by 14 paise to close at 71.18 against the US Dollar on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, Amid rising crude oil prices dealers at Forex Market said.
The local unit opened on a weak note at 71.12, then fell further to 71.18 against the US dollar, showing a decline of 14 paise over it’s previous closing.

Firm dollar against other world currencies kept the local unit weak, however positive close in the domestic equity market and fresh foreign fund inflows capped losses, they added.
High oscillation was seen during the day as the Indian currency registered day high and low at 71.25 and 71.06 respectively.
On Thursday, the Rupee had settled 20 paise higher at 71.04 against the US dollar.
