Rupee depreciates by 33 paise to close at 66.12 against USD, 13-mnth low

Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) The rupee on Friday depreciated by another 33 paise for the fifth consecutive
session to 66.12 to hit a fresh 13-month low against the US dollar on fresh dollar demand from banker
and importers, amid soaring crude oil prices overseas, dealers at Forex Market said.
Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) hawkish comments in the monetary policy committee minute also
put pressure on the money, they added.
Dealers also attributed the rupee's fall to dollar gains against other currencies overseas, persistent
foreign fund outflows and weakness in the domestic equity markets.
The rupee opened weak at 66.07 down by 28 paise at the interbank forex market today.
A major fluctuation was seen during the day it registered day's high and low at 65.98 and 66.14,
respectively.
On Thursday, the rupee had slipped by 14 paise to settle at 65.79 against the US currency due to
sustained dollar demand.
