New Delhi, Jul 31 (UNI) Swadeshi Jagran Manch, economic wing of RSS, on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to allow telecom department officials to attend a 5G conference sponsored by Chinese major Huawei.
'Instead of adhering to the highest standards of integrity required in the Central Civil Services Conduct Rules, which also enjoin officials to protect the security and integrity of India, the entire top echelons of DoT are attending a conference paid for by Huawei, which together with other Chinese telecom companies, faces outright bans/ severe restrictions,' SJM’s national co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan said in a letter to the Prime Minister.
Stating that Chinese dominance in India’s telecommunication sector is 'very damaging', he said Huawei is not only creating a security threat but also killing opportunities for India's indigenous players.
'India is required to take a firm stance on this,' Mr Mahajan said.
He further wrote, 'Even in India the operations of Huawei are not beyond suspicion, and is never investigated thoroughly.'
Mr Mahajan said to attend this conference in China by telecom department officials will produce 'bad optic' and severely complicate decision making by the government of India vis-a-vis interest of foreign companies at cost of national security.
