RSPB clinches 6 gold, 2 silver Elite Women's National Boxing Championship

Kannur, Dec 8 (UNI) The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) clinched the overall title with six gold and two silver in the 4th Elite Women's National Boxing Championship, concluded at Mundayad Indoor Stadium here, on Sunday.
Haryana finished as Runner Up with one gold, four silver and two Bronze, while All India Police came on third spot with two gold, one silver and four bronze, Rajasthan secured one gold and stand in the fourth position and hosts Kerala ranked fifth position when they bagged one Silver and two Bronze in this championship. Last year Haryana finished at the top of the podium followed by RSPB.
Best boxer of the championship award bagged to Jyoti Gulia of RSPB.
As many as 6 pugilists from RSPB win gold, out of the eight compete today in the finals under ten weight category. RSPB two pugilists Meenakshi in (54 kg) suffer a lost through a speed point decision (RSC) 4-1 against International boxer M Meena Kumari of All India Police (AIP) in 54 kg and Meena Rani lost to Lalita of Rajasthan in 69 kg through a upset by 5-0. This was also lead to open an account in the final medal tally to favor of Rajasthan, Assam secured one Silver through Ankushita Bora in 64 kg she lost to Pwilao Basumatary of RSPB in 64 kg category.
In the 48 kg category President's Cup (Indonesia) gold medalist Monika (RSPB) beat K Bina Devi of (AIP) by unanimous 5-0, in a speedy game., while junior youth world champion Jyoti Gulia (RSPB) beat RItu Grewal (Haryana) by 5-0 in 51 kg),Cologne world cup gold medalist Meena Kumari Devi (AIP) beat Meenakshi (RSPB) by 4-1 according to the speed points decision in 54 kg.
Sonia Chahal (RSPB) beat Sakshi (Haryana) by split point 3-2 in 57 kg, in 60 kg 2017 youth world champion Shashi Chopra (Haryana) lost to Pavitra of RSPB. while Pwilao Basumatary (RSPB) beat Ankushita Bora by 3-2 in 64 kg category. Nupur of Haryana beat Kerala's Indraja K A by 4-1 in 75 kg category after Nupur neglect the full audience support to hosts super. While in the 81 kg, Indian Open gold medalist Bhagyabati Kachari (RSPB) beat Shaily Singh (Uttar Pradesh) by unanimous decision of 5-0. In the last bout of the championship, International boxer Kavitha Chahal of (AIP) beat Anupama of Haryana by 5-0 in 81 plus kg.
Health Minister K K Shailaja and Minister for Ports and Museum Ramachandran Kadanappally gave away the trophies to the winners.
