RSP announces NK Premachandran for Kollam Lok Sabha seat

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 28 (UNI) Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) on Thursday announced that MP NK Premachandran will contest from Kollam seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to the Party sources, the State Committee of RSP, one of the allianace partners of Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), decided to field NK Premachandran as the UDF candidate to contest elections from Kollam constituency.

In connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the name of the RSP candidate was announced for the first time in the state.

The decision was followed by the UDF decision to give the Kollam seat to their ally RSP, the sources further said.

The RSP State Committee, which was chaired by former general secretary TJ Chandrachudan, assigned party state secretary AA Aziz to inform the decision to UDF officially.

N K Premachandran, a Central Secretariat Member of RSP, was the Minister of Water Resources in Kerala from 2006 to 2011.

In the previous Lok Sabha elections, he defeated M A Baby of the CPI(M) by a margin of 37,649 votes.
