RS winter session ends: Do not sacrifice Parliament at the altar of politics, Venkaiah Naidu appeals

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday with Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu expressing concern over the disruptions during the Winter Session and calling on the members to review their conduct.
Soon after Question Hour ended, the Chairman said, 'The winter session of the Rajya Sabha is coming to an end. It is an opportunity for all of us to review and recall how we have conducted ourselves in this session.
Though Parliament is a political institution, it cannot be sacrificed at the altar of politics, Mr Naidu added.
Nine government Bills, Mr Naidu said, were cleared while 19 Private Members' Bills were introduced during the Winter Session of the Rajya Sabha.
'The House had very productive discussions on the state of economy and employment generation, and air pollution in Delhi,'he said.' 46 starred questions were answered and 51 zero hour submissions made,'
the Vice-President added.
Calling for playing of the national song, Mr Naidu later adjourned the sine die the Council of States.
