Rs 50,000 additional compensation to each affected family of the flood ravaged Kodagu District: Minister

Bengaluru, Sept 22 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has announced release of Rs 50,000 additional compensation to each of the affected family in the flood ravaged Kodagu District, Minister for Revenue and Skill Development R V Deshpande said on Saturday.
In a release here, he said that since there was appeal for more compensation as Rs 1800 for cloths and Rs 2000 paid for purchase of provisions etc., (together Rs 3800) paid under SDRF and NDRF was not sufficient, the State government has released this additional Compensation.
In all 1156 houses were totally damaged/collapsed. In all 16 people died in the State in the record South West Monsoon rain that lashed parts of the State during August. The rain had erased 116 year old record and this had also led to flood and landslides in the affected Districts.
