Rs 12 crore worth Arecanut stored without valid permit seized

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate, Commercial Tax Department, South Zone officials have seized Rs 12 crore worth Arecanut stored without valid permission and collected Tax and penalty of Rs 72 lakhs besides seizing one godown in Tumakuru, about 60 km from here on Friday.
On getting a definite information, Mr Nitish patil, Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax (Enforcement) raided godowns at Antharasanahalli Industrial Area and found 4670 quintals of Arecanut worth about Rs 12 crore stored in two godowns, Mr M S Srikar, Commissioner, Commercial Tax, said in a press release here.
He said that initially the owners and workers resisted the officers from entering, but when search warrant were disclosed they were allowed.
