Rs 10 lakh compensation for those who lost house and land

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 14 (UNI) Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday decided to provide a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to those who lost their house and land in the flood and landslides in the state.
Briefing on the cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Rs 10,000 will be given as an immediate compensation to all the victims who have been forced to evacuate their places due to flood and landslides. However, this will be done after preparing a detailed list of the victims by a competent authority, he added.
The compensation will be given on the basis of criteria laid down for disbursing State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), he added.
Those who lost their house will get Rs 4 lakh and also who lost their land will get an additional Rs 6 lakh, he clarified.
Flood affected families will be provided 15 kg rice through ration shops, he said.
