Rs 10,000 should be transferred to every needy person: Priyanka

Lucknow, May 28 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday said the Union government should transfer Rs 10,000 into the bank accounts of needy people affected by the coronavirus epidemic without any delay.
Addressing the state party workers through Facebook Live, she said, "Congress workers and leaders are raising their voices in the country in favour of those people who have been most affected by the lockdown and novel coronavirus epidemic. We are doing this so that the government listens to them. It is our demand that Rs 10,000 should be transferred in the accounts of the needy people. Our second demand is that Rs 7,500 should be transferred into the bank accounts of the needy for the next 6 months."
Alongside, she said that the MGNREGA work-day should be increased from 100 to 200 for those migrant workers who are returning to their villages. The government should provide a package to those grappling with the lockdown, who do not have any businesses, who own small industries or shops or are weavers.
The General Secretary said, "I want to make a special request to all the political parties, especially the BJP that this is not the time for politics. We should all come together. The leaders of all parties should forget the ideological differences and help everyone. When you did not allow 10,000 buses in UP from us, we had said that you can put up your banners and posters, we don't have problems. Announcement was made that you will run 12,000 buses of UP transport corporation but they are only running on paper. They were not brought on the roads."
Ms Vadra said, 'Even after the arrest of state unit president Ajay Kumar Lallu, we did not lose hope. It is our responsibility to raise a voice for him and demand justice.'
