RR manager Romi Bhinder penalised ₹1 lakh for dugout phone breach

Mumbai, April 17 (UNI) Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder has been fined Rs 1 lakh and issued a formal warning, treating the matter as a first-time offence by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) after being spotted using a mobile phone near the dugout during an IPL 2026 match, an act that violates anti-corruption protocols, though he has been cleared of any serious wrongdoing.
The action came after the ACSU initiated a show-cause notice and conducted an inquiry into the incident. While Bhinder was found to have exercised poor judgment by using a phone in a restricted area, investigators did not find any evidence suggesting malicious intent or wrongdoing. As a result, the matter was dealt
with leniently, taking into account both the circumstances and his clean record.
