RPF jawan saves Jalna man from being run over by express train

Thane, Dec 5 (UNI) In an exemplary show of courage, a Railway Protection Force jawan risked his life and saved the life of a passenger from being run over by a speeding express train at Thane railway station.
On night of December 3 at around 2229 hrs, RPF constable Anil Kumar was deputed for prevention and detection of theft duty, when he noticed one person trying to cross the railway tracks from platform number 6 to platform number 7 at Kalyan-end in a confused manner.
At that time, Anil noticed the express train (no 18029) was arriving on platform no 7, on seeing this, he acted promptly and without caring for his life, jumped on track and in a split second lifted the passenger up on platform no 7.

The loco pilot of the train applied the emergency brake and stopped it in time.
Later on, the rescued passenger was brought to RPF post at Thane.
During enquiry, he identified himself as Baban Radhakishan Sonwane (55), resident of Ghansavangi in Jalna.

Sonwane told police that he was going to Jalna with his family, who were on plat form no 7, while he was on plat form no 6, at that time, he saw the express train coming on platform no 7 and in order to catch the train, he crossed the railway tracks.
His family members and others praised the Anil for showing the presence of mind and courage of the RPF jawan.
