Rohit Sharma powers India to 336/5 against Pakistan

Manchester, Jun 16 (UNI) A marvelous knock by Rohit Sharma (140 off 113 balls) powered India to post a mammoth total of 336 runs against Pakistan at Old Trafford stadium here on Sunday.
After put into bat, men in blue started cautiously but later Rohit hammered Pakistani bowlers, while on the other side his opening partner KL Rahul, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan, took his time to settle down. Pakistan got a couple of chances to quench their wicket's thirst as Rohit, leading from the front, could have been run out but neighbours failed to utilise those chances and Rohit kept the score board running as India marched to set for a big scores.
Indian were off to fine start with the openers putting up 136 runs for the first wicket, but in 23.5 over, Pakistan finally got their much waited wicket and broke the partnership as Rahul was sent to the pavilion on a score of 57 runs off 77 balls. He was caught by Babar Azam on Wahab Riaz's ball.
Though Rahul's wicket gave Pakistan some relief but the it was difficult to stop men in blue from scoring runs as on the other side Rohit was at his best to keep the score board running. This was also his 24th one-day internatioal century.
Rohit innings included 14 fours and 3 sixes. However Rohit's journey came to an end in 38.2 over, when he tried to play a ball being bowled by Hassan Ali but he failed to get the desired connection and Riaz took a simple catch inside the ring.
Hardik Pandya who accompanied Kohli, after Rohit's dismissal, could have done a bit well, but unfortunately, after adding 51 runs with him, Pandya departed on a score of 26 runs in the 43rd over. India were at 285/3.

However, on the other end Kohli (77 runs off 64 balls) played handsomely and also the Indian skipper, became the fastest to score 11,000 One-day International (ODI) runs, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record in the process. Virat Kohli reached the milestone in 222 innings to become the new holder of the record after Sachin Tendulkar had achieved the milestone in 276 innings.
The former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni failed to contribute much in the match and departed on a score of 1 run. He was caught by Sarfaraz Ahmed on Mohammad Amir's ball.
