Rohit achieves his best rankings, Virat static at no 1

Dubai, Oct 2 (UNI) India opener Rohit Sharma has reached his best fifth spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings released here today due to his brilliant performances in the one-day series against Australia, while captain Virat Kohli remains static at number one. In the ICC batting rankings, Rohit has claimed 5th spot with a jump of four places, which is his best ranking in ODIs. Rohit has 790 rating points. In the five-match series against Australia, Rohit has been the top scorer with two half centuries and a century with 296 runs. India defeated Australia by seven wickets in the fifth and final ODI on Sunday in Nagpur, and fetched 4-1 series win. With this, India remains on top of the ICC ODI Team Rankings. Apart from Rohit, among the top 10 ODI batsmen, Virat is another Indian player who has remained static at top with 877 rating points. In the series, David Warner, the successful Australian opener is at no 2 spot while there is only 12 points difference between him and Kohli. Other players who have benefited from the rankings include Ajinkya Rahane and Kedar Jadhav. Rahane has got the advantage of four places and he has reached his best 24th rank. Rahane has 631 rating points. Jadhav has moved up from eight places to number 36 and is also his best ranking with 573 points.

In the ICC ODI bowling rankings spinner Axar Patel has jumped three places up reaching seventh spot also his best ranking of his career. Being most succesful bowler in Nagpur clinching 3 wickets with 663 rating points he jointly shares seventh spot with Hasan Ali of Pakistan. In the top-10 bowlers, pacer Jasprit Bumrah (671) is the other Indian at fifth position. Apart from this, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, who have been successful against Australia are other Indian players benefitted from the rankings. Chahal has gained 24 places in the ranking and now he has reached number 75, while Chinaman bowler Kuldeep has jumped nine places up now stands at 80th spot. In ODI bowlers, South Africa's Imran Tahir, who has been out of the tour of India, has surpassed Josh Hazlewood claiming no 1 spot. However, there is no Indian player in the top 10 in the ODI All-rounder rankings. Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh is at no 1.
