Flushing Meadows (New York), Aug 26 (UNI) Rohan Bopanna of India and Denis Shapovalov of Canada have been drawn to meet fourth seeded French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahul in the men's doubles first round match in the the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, New York.
Divij Sharan is the another Indian player featuring in the men's doubles first round fixture. He is pairing with Nys Hugo of Monaco. They will cross swords with Robertio Carballes Vaena of Spain and Federico Delbonis of Argentina.
Meanwhile, Indian qualifier Sumit Nagal from Jhajjar (Haryana) was scheduled to practice on Court No. 4.
There will be a lot of focus on his match as he has been drawn to meet tennis giant third seed Roger Federer of Switzerland in the first round. It will be Nagal's best ever match of his career where he faces big gun of Tennis.
Nagal has nothing to lose. He has already made a mark by qualifying for the Main Draw after winning three qualifying matches. A big match against Federer should do a lot of confidence to the Indian player who will be playing his first Grand Slam main draw match of his career.
Prajesh Gunneswaran, ranked 88th, will be meeting fifth ranked Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the singles first round match on Tuesday. Holder of eight career titles, Medvedev has won 111 career matches. Prajnesh has won eight career matches so far.
