Robbers snatch gold chains from Circar Express passengers near Bapatla

Bapatla, June 15 (UNI): A gang of robbers snatched gold chains from the passengers travelling in the Kakinada-bound Circar Express at the Nallamada railway bridge near the railway station here in the wee hours on Monday.
Government Railway police DSP Akkeswara Rao told the media that a group of robbers committed chain snatching from the women passengers in the S3 and S6 compartments of Chengalpattu-Kakinada Port Circar Express. The panicked passengers stopped the train by pulling the chain.
The GRP personnel rushed there and found the robbers jumping off the compartments. The GRP personnel chased the robbers for some distance. When they pelted stones on them, GRP constable Ravi Kumar opened 9 rounds of fire with the service rifle towards the robbers. However, the robbers managed to escape into the darkness.
