Road tax for all buses and minibuses waived till September 30 in Bengal

Kolkata, Aug 06 (UNI) Giving a breather, the West Bengal Government on Thursday waived all road and other taxes on heavy vehicles till September 30.
It was decided at a State Cabinet meeting.
Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said none of the state's over 25,000 odd bus and minibuses would have to pay road tax or any other tax till September 30 this year due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Kohima, Sep 23 (UNI) The Chairman of the breakaway faction of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K), Lt Gen (retired) Nyemlang Konyak, along with his colleagues, has surrendered to the security forces on the Indian side of the India-Myanmar border and they were handed themselves over to the Assam Rifles somewhere in Mon district on September 22.

Unidentified gunmen shot dead Assam truck driver in Nagaland

Kohima, Sep 23 (UNI) While Naga peace talks were nearing to a solution, an incident of violation of human rights has shocked the Naga society, one Assam truck driver was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Imliyanger Memorial Centre (IMC) Hall in Dimapur in the wee hours of Tuesday. Official sources said that the deceased, identified as Jiten Gogoi (30), hailed from Dhemaji in Assam and was a driver of a transport company. He had transported a shipment of sanitary ware and animal feed from Guwahati and was said to have crossed the Dillai check post in Assam at around 1:46 am, sources added. He was suspected that the killing happened sometime around 2:30 am of September 22. His body was found sprawled on the road near the warehouse at around 5:30 am.
