RK Beach in Vizag turns War Zone and Tourist Spot on Navy Day

Visakhapatnam, Dec 4 (UNI) The Ramakrishna beach popular as RK beach in Vizag city on Wednesday evening reflected a war zone as well as a tourist spot, as thousands of Vizagites lining up the beach to watch the annual operational display of the Eastern Naval Command on the occasion of Navy Day 2019 celebrations.
The ENC has displayed its maritime, air and onshore capabilities, putting forth the might of its fleet.
Eastern naval Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy attended as chief guest for the event.
On display were Indian Navy’s premier warships carrying Indian flags onboard and launching dinghies with naval commandos who subsequently launched a mock attack on reaching the shore, reminiscing one of the September 26 attack on Mumbai and the Indian Navy’s capability to repulse such an attack.
These commandos were joined in the sea by a few more orange-dressed naval commandos who were airdropped by a naval helicopter, making for a visual feast to the thousands of spectators at the beach.
A huge blast close to the shore had drawn the attention of the public, even as the smoke emanating from the blast went up in a perfect ring.
The Surya Kiran team of naval pilots drew huge applause from the public for their aerobatics.
They started off with the more normal moves moving on to the visual intersections of the jets amidst the jubilant cries of the viewing public.
Then came the naval seacraft carrying tanks, which rolled out from the seacraft, and were followed up by a stream of soldiers who again staged a tank-backed `attack’ on the `enemy’.
Meanwhile, naval helicopters flew over the beach at a low level, close to the viewing public, leaving them in awe.
Speaking on the occasion, Atul Kumar Jain said that to commemorate the Navy Day on December 4, every year, the ENC showcases the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities and activities that the Navy undertakes on the high seas with an Operational Demonstration.
The Navy Day operation demonstration gives an opportunity for the public to have a closer glimpse at the multi-furious activities of the Navy and the challenges that naval personnel experience at sea, he added.
