RJD holds Nitish responsible for higher rate of power

Patna, Nov 28 (UNI) RJD on Sunday alleged that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was responsible for higher rate of power as he had not opposed certain provisions in electricity reforms act framed during the regime of Vajpayee government at the Centre when he was union minister.
State RJD president Jagadanand Singh and that the then Vajpayee government had framed electricity Reforms Act in the year 2003 when Mr Kumar was Union Minister but he had not opposed certain provisions which led to fixing of power rate at Rs 4 per unit. Poor states like Bihar were among worst sufferer due to higher rate of power fixed in the Reforms Act , he pointed out.
RJD leader said that there was no point for Mr Kumar to raise the demand of uniform power rate across the country as he had not used his influence as Union Minister to oppose the provisions leading to escalation of power rate. When RJD was in power, he had written a letter to Central government for providing land for establishing thermal power unit ine Barh and also for purchasing the power at market rate. Bihar was only state in the country having zero power production as its power generating stations had been sold to NTPC, he added.
