New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) With the mercury soaring, streets and roads across plains wore a deserted look during day on Saturday.
People remained indoors due to prevailing heatwave conditions.
On Saturday, Vidarbha in Maharashtra recorded the highest temperature of 46 degrees C. According to a UNI report from Marathwada, the doctors have advised people to remain indoors. Moreover, the state health department has asked the citizens to remain properly hydrated.
According to Indian Meterological department, on Saturday, the mercury rose by one to three degree in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh,Uttarakhand, Bihar,West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.
Delhites woke up on a hot morning on Saturday with minimum temperature 25.6 deg C at 0800 hrs.
IMD on Saturday evening issued a Cyclonic Storm 'Fani' warning to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The cyclone can strike these two states on the evening of April 30, it said in an official statement.
The wind speed across southwest Bay of Bengal and east of Indian Ocean have intesified. The IMD has issued an advisory for fishermen to not to venture in these areas as the sea and ocean water is very rough.
Moreover, the meterological department has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and squall in northeast India.
Rainfall occurred at places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
