RIL invested Rs 5,000 cr, created 41,000 jobs in WB in last three years: Ambani

Kolkata, Jan 8 (UNI) Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani, today said that his company created 41,000 jobs in West Bengal in the past three years.
“Reliance has invested over Rs 5,000 crore in Bengal in the past three years in expanding digital broadband infrastructure. This has created 11,000 direct jobs and 30,000 indirect jobs in the state,” Mr Ambani said speaking at the second Bengal Global Business Summit being hosted by the West Bengal government here.
Thanking Ms Banerjee for making the process of clearance for new projects easier and faster, Mr Ambani said that as regards the investment destination, West Bengal now ranks high for RIL in terms of ease of doing business.
“I assure that Reliance will be a reliable partner in Bengal’s dream for industrialisation. Over the next two years, we will take Internet to all the villages in Bengal. Also, we will connect 2,800 colleges in the state,” the leading industrialists said.
Mr Amabni said, “In very less time India will be at the top 10 of digital service infrastructure development. Bengal is on top of my mind when we think of investment. It is easy to do business in Bengal. As an investor I think that Bengal is good place for business and is very systematic. I am very pleased and satisfied with the progress of Jio Project”.
Speaking in the Business Summit Mr Ambani said such events are benifitting the state and bringing in changes and partnerships. In the last 10 years there has been huge development in the social and economic infrastructure of Bengal.
RIL’s presence in the state at present is limited to retail business like Reliance Fresh, Reliance Digital, Reliance Trends, Reliance Home stores, and Reliance Jio telecommunications.
The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, the British minister of state for employment, Priti Patel, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Union finance minister Arun Jaitely, railways minister Suresh Prabhu, power minister Piyush Goyal and highways minister Nitin Gadkari also spoke today on the first day of the two day-long Bengal Global Business Summit.
