Hyderabad, Dec 5 (UNI) The Congress on Tuesday announced the name of Revanth Reddy as the Chief Minister of Telangana, days after the grand old party swept the Assembly polls.
Reddy, who is the president of the Telangana Congress, will take the oath on December 7, the party said.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Congress general secretary in-charge Organisations KC Venugopal said, "Based on the resolution passed by the Telangana Congress Legislature Party and the report of the Special Observers and General Secretary in-charge, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge ji appointed TPCC President Revanth Reddy ji as the CLP Leader of Telangana."
Lauding Reddy, who campaigned extensively in Telangana, Venugopal said, "
He led a brilliant campaign and had an extremely successful tenure as PCC President (Telangana). We are confident that he will be a very able administrator and the Congress will work as a team to exceed the expectations of the people of Telangana."
The senior Congress leader also said the party is committed to fullfill all its promises made to the people of the state during the polls.
"Our government is committed to fulfilling the guarantees made during the campaign and usher in Prajala Telangana for the 3.5 crore citizens," he said.
