Retail inflation rises at 3.18 pc in June

New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) India’s retail inflation grew at 3.18 per cent in June 2019 against 3.05 per cent in May this year, the Government announced on Friday.

Besides, the Consumer Food Price Inflation (CFPI) also rose at 2.17 per cent in June against 1.83 per cent in May 2019, said the data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation here.

The food and beverages inflation was calculated at 2.37 per cent in June 2019, while pan, tobacco and intoxicants data stood at 4.11 per cent in the month of June.

There was more than a two-fold increment in pulses inflation which stood at 5.68 per cent in June against 2.13 per cent in May, 2019.

According to the data, fuel and light inflation however, declined at 2.32 per cent in June against 2.48 per cent in May this year.

The vegetable inflation also dipped and stood at 4.66 per cent in June against 5.46 per cent in the previous month this year.

Cereals inflation grew at 1.31 per cent in June from 1.24 per cent and housing inflation rose marginally at 4.84 per cent in June against 4.82 per cent in previous month of May this year.

The clothing and footwear inflation was 1.52 per cent in June against 1.8 per cent in May 2019, the data added.

The CPI rate of 3.18 per cent has once again come below the RBI’s target of 4 per cent.
