Residents welcome renaming of Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation as “Indraprastha Virasat Punarvikas Nigam,” hopeful of development: Kapoor

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) The General Secretary of Chandni Chowk Nagrik Manch Praveen Shankar Kapoor, who is also the spokesperson of the Delhi BJP, has expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for fulfilling the long-pending demand of the residents and traders of Old Delhi by renaming the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, which was constituted for the development of the area, as the Indraprastha Heritage Redevelopment Corporation.
Kapoor said that the then Congress government had established the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation in the early 2000s, promising special status and focused development for Old Delhi. However, despite the passage of 25 years, no significant development took place.
Although the main Chandni Chowk road was beautified, the project eventually deteriorated because it remained entirely under the control of officials, Kapoor added.
