Rescheduled Patna opposition meeting on June 23, Rahul to attend

Patna, June 7 (UNI) Top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, party president
Mallikarjun Kharge and other stalwarts of opposition outfits would participate in a rescheduled meeting on June 23 here to find ways of forging national level unity to counter BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Making the announcement in a joint media briefing, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and JD(U) president Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that the proposed meeting of opposition parties on June 12 in Patna, which was earlier postponed, would now be held on June 23 at the same venue.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge have given their consent to attend the meeting on the rescheduled date, they informed .
Singh said some top leaders had expressed their inability to attend the proposed meeting on June 12 due to their engagements. Keeping in mind their convenience, the meeting was rescheduled for June 23, he said.
Yadav said it was a good political development that finally a meeting of opposition parties would be held in Patna.It would mark the beginning of the joint fight against BJP to save democracy and defeat the saffron party in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Chief Minister Nitish and RJD president Lalu Prasad have made sincere efforts to unite opposition parties across the country to counter BJP in the coming geenerl elections.
He accused the Narendra Modi government of trampling democracy and constitutional institutions in the country and it was time for all opposition parties to make joint efforts to take on BJP so that country could get rid of saffron rule.
Among those who have confirmed their participation in the proposed meeting are -- West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Jharkhand Chief Minister
Hemant Soren, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, NCP president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, General Secretary of CPI D Raja, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and General Secretary of CPI(ML) Deepankar Bhattacharya.
As it is Bihar Chief Minister Kumar had visited several states and New Delhi to meet top opposition leaders to convince them for coming on the same platform to checkmate the BJP.
After his meeting with opposition leaders, June 12 was fixed for opposition parties meeting in Patna, but it was postponed due to inability expressed by some leaders to attend the deliberations on that day. UNI KKS SSP
