Republic Day celebrations to be muted affair owing to Covid

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) The Republic Day main function on Rajpath will relatively be a muted event this year due to strict Covid-19 protocol in place. For a second successive year, the main function on Rajpath will be held without a friendly foreign leader or chief guest.
The number of spectators allowed to witness the Republic Day parade will be approximately 5000 to 8000 as compared to 25000 in last year, a senior Defence Ministry official said on Tuesday.
The inclusion of foreign guests is left to the Ministry of External Affairs, the official added.
