Repo rate hike an effort to rein in inflation: Mehul

Kolkata, Dec 7 (UNI) Mehul Mohanka, President of Indian Chamber of Commerce, on Wednesday said, "RBI raised the repo rate by 35 bps today to 6.25 per cent in an effort to rein in inflation which continues to be above desirable levels."
"RBI has broken the trend of hike by 5o bps in the last meets of the MPC. RBI’s balancing act is to let the economic growth rate unaffected which is positive for India for the year 2022-23 and is projected to be in the range of 6.5-7 per cent," according to different sources.
"Indian Chamber of Commerce appreciates the neutral stance of RBI in a scenario of geopolitical tensions, financial market volatility and weather related disruptions."
