By Manoj Bhadra Lucknow, Oct 7(UNI) After an over a year-long feud, the first family of the Samajwadi party headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav is all set to put up a united face before the people here on 12th October, the 50th death anniversary of the socialist ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia. Mulayam Singh Yadav, SP national president Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Yadav and principal general secretary and Rajya Sabha leader Ram Gopal Yadav will share the dais to observe the death anniversary of Lohia. The birth anniversary of Lohia on March 23 and death anniversary on October 12 are important events in the calendar of the Samajwadi party. Akhilesh Yadav, who had replaced his father as national president of the party in January this year, during the national convention of the party at Agra on October 5, had said, 'Netaji will soon appear on the party’s platform in the state.' The SP president has already announced that the birthday of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav on November 22 will be celebrated as the party foundation day. SP has issued instructions to all its district units to celebrate the day at all the district, tehsil and development block headquarters. Barring a few visits to the state office of the party, Mulayam Singh has stayed away from the affairs of the SP for the past year. During the state assembly polls in March this year, he had campaigned only for his brother Shivpal Yadav and his daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who had contested election from Jaswant Nagar in Etawah and Lucknow cantonment assembly seat. On Saturday, Akhilesh and Shivpal both met the party’s patron Mulayam Singh Yadav separately at his residence. It was the first meeting of Akhilesh Yadav with his father after he was elected as the national president of the party for a five-year term at the national convention of the SP at Agra. Later, Shivpal Yadav left for Etawah to attend the concluding day programme of Ram Lila marked by 'Bharat Milap.' SP sources said here today that Shivpal Yadav told his key supporters that, ' It is better to remain part of the SP rather than drift to the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party or other parties and face constant humiliation.' The sources said Shivpal also assured his nephew Akhilesh Yadav and the party’s patron that he has no conditions for burying the hatchet nor any political aspirations and he would remain a loyal and committed solider of the SP. In August 2016, a bitter feud between uncle Shivpal and his nephew Akhilesh Yadav erupted on the public domain. Akhilesh Yadav was then chief minister and Shivpal Yadav the most powerful and senior most minister in the cabinet. Shivpal Yadav had then alleged that he was being ignored in the government and he intended to resign from the party and the government. The feud escalated as Akhilesh Yadav dismissed the loyalists of his uncle from the cabinet. In October last year, he also sacked his uncle from the ministry. Ever since the feud of uncle and nephew became a public affair in August 2016, Shivpal Yadav had been fighting a lost war. He hoped that his brother Mulayam Singh would come to his rescue but he maintained a very diplomatic stand which ultimately helped his son Akhilesh Yadav to strengthen his grip over the party. Shivpal Yadav in January this year had announced that he would float a new party after the state assembly elections which concluded in March. After the elections in April, he announced that he had floated a secular front to be headed by his elder brother Mulayam Singh Yadav. The SP patron, however, feigned his ignorance of any such move. Later, Shivpal Yadav announced to float the secular front by the end of June which was later extended to October. None of the announcements materialised and ultimately will of Netaji prevailed as Shivapal sued for peace with his nephew. UNI MB RP1940
