Ahmedabad, Feb 18 (UNI) Recently re-launched Jawa Motrocycles in its new classic Avtar made its entry for sale in Gujarat as Classic Legends on Monday, the company that has invented its new look and brought the brand to life again started its first dealer point of in Ahmedabad.
Tarun Sharma, National head-sales and services of the company in presence of Boman Irani, Chairman & Managing Director, Rustomjee Group who belonged to the family that owned the erstwhile Jawa business which shut shop due to various reasons way back in 1996, inagurated the dealer's showroom in close to Vijay Char Rasta in the city.
He said that the brand was re-launched in November last year and has so far 45 dealerships across the country including the first one in Gujarat. 'We have plans to take it to 100+ by March end this year and of these six will be in Gujarat. The ones in Rajkot, Surat and Vadodra would be launched tomorrow and later in Vapi and Anand,' he said.
Irani, said, “It gives me great pride to inaugurate Classic Legends’ first Jawa Motorcycles dealership in the vibrant state of Gujarat. Jawa Motorcycles have enjoyed a huge fan following throughout and it was a historic moment for me and the entire Irani family when we brought Jawa back in India last November. We are quite upbeat to offer these classics to the motorcycle enthusiasts in the country.
On the roads at the time, it was a simple, rugged and trustworthy motorcycle that would never fail. As a custodian of the JAWA brand, we will endeavour to build the original Jawa spirit in the team to make sure every Jawa dealer goes out and changes the way classic motorcycles are sold to the future riding generation. We are working to build a superlative experience for the customers in terms of brand as well as sales enablement. As we expand our network to gear up for deliveries starting March, I would encourage everyone to visit our dealers and look at the motorcycles, test ride them to feel the modern classics we have created.”
Initially the two available models Jawa and Jawa forty two are modern machines with the authentic Jawa character that balances performance, capability and quality. An all-new 293cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder, DOHC engine nestled within a double cradle chassis is tuned to bring out the superlative handling and class leading stability, making the new Jawa a true modern classic.

The Jawa and Jawa forty two are priced at Rs 1.65 lakh and Rs 1.56 lakh respectively here.

Sharma said that the over 150 cc bike segment in India was still seeing a growth at 20% CAGR due to large chunk of young people in the country's population. This segment was 15% of the total motorcyle market.
