Regional Conference on Sandalwood at MSSRF tomorrow

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) A regional conference on Sandalwood would be

held at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) here tomorrow.

A release from MSSRF here on Friday said that following the Sandalwood

National Conference that was held on February 25 at IIFS Bangalore, the

Sandalwood Society of India would be organising the Regional Conference

in Chennai tomorrow at the MSSRF.

The programme will be inaugurated by MSSRF Chairperson Prof M S Swaminathan.

The other special guests included officials from various departments of Tamil Nadu,

Karnataka, and Kerala, and IWST, Government of India.

The key theme of this event is to create a platform for all the stakeholders in the

sandalwood field and to discuss various key issues pertaining to sandalwood growth

including current status and future priorities.

This conference is being organized by Dr Murugaselvam, Sandal Society Regional

Director of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

The conference was aimed at spreading more awareness among farmers to cultivate

sandalwood and to enrich them.

The regional event will also be creating a perfect platform for all Regional Directors of

Sandalwood Society of India to meet and share knowledge from different States.
