Reducing cost of farming & further promoting natural farming to increase income of farmers: Dalal

Chandigarh, Jan 23 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Jai Parkash Dalal said that reducing the cost of farming and further promoting natural farming to increase farmers’ income is the topmost priority of the State Government. In this series, an organic market will also be established in Gurugram, through this market, farmers will be able to sell their products directly to the consumers.
The Agriculture Minister was speaking after launching a chatbot in Panchkula on Thursday. The Minister then also held a meeting with the Headquarters and District level officers of the Agriculture Department.
The Agriculture Minister was appraised that chatbot is software that conducts a conversation via auditory or textual methods. The software will be used to make farmers a digital farmer under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The officers said that with the launch of this chatbot, farmers will easily get information related to the scheme through online medium.
Apart from this, on this occasion, the Agriculture Minister also flagged off three vans called Krishi Pathshala. This van will travel from village to village and inform the farmers about the Government Schemes and also check the soil quality and make the farmers aware of the specifics related to the soil.
Presiding over the meeting with the headquarters and district level officials of the department, JP Dalal directed the officials of the Agriculture Department that efforts should be made to promote micro-irrigation in the State and farmers should be informed that micro irrigation not only saves water but also increases productivity. Apart from this, diversification of crops should also be emphasized. He said that the instead of high water crops, the cultivation of low water crops should be encouraged.
He said that taking the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of doubling the farmers' income, the farmers of the State should also be made aware to adopt natural and organic farming. For this, some farmers should be trained who can use natural and organic farming on their land and further they can share the experience of this experiment with other farmers so that they could be inspired to adopt natural and organic farming. He said that an organic market will also be established in the Gurugram district. Through this market, farmers will be able to sell their products directly, which will increase their income.
Mr. JP Dalal said that stern action should be taken against unauthorized dealers and companies selling illegal chemical fertilizers and pesticides, to reduce excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He said that if any complaints are received from the farmers about the crops damaged due to the use of such fertilizer and pesticides, then stern action will be taken against such dealers and companies, as well as the concerned officer and the farmer, will be given compensation for the damaged crop. He also directed that status reports of so far action taken on such unauthorized dealers and companies should also be shared.
The issue of crop residue management was also discussed in the meeting, on which the Minister said that preparing the buyers for Straw is the first priority of the State Government and once such buyers are ready, the farmer will not burn the straw in the future but will earn income from it.
Agriculture Minister said that in every village, at least 2 progressive farmers should be identified, who have improved agriculture by adopting techniques of diversification of crops, micro-irrigation, natural farming, and organic farming and a specific program should be organized at the district level, for honoring such farmers which will inspire other farmers to adopt similar techniques.
He said that any work in the interest of the farmer would be done on a priority basis. He said that in order to further strengthen and improve the functioning of the department, a status report of the previous years and future action plan should be prepared so that the farmers can avail the benefit of the welfare schemes being run in their interest.
