Redis launches LangCache, acquires Decodable

Bengaluru, Sept 17 (UNI) Redis today set out a broad vision for its future in the era of Artificial Intelligence, announcing new tools, a strategic acquisition, and a sharpened focus on India as part of its global innovation strategy.
Speaking at Redis Released 2025 — the company's largest developer gathering, held in Bengaluru — CEO Rowan Trollope described how Redis is evolving from a high-speed data store into a "real-time memory layer" for intelligent software agents powered by large language models (LLMs).
These agents, he told media, are beginning to reason, plan and act on live, context-aware data, marking the dawn of what he called the "software 3.0 era."
"AI is reshaping how software is built and what it can do," Trollope noted. "Redis provides the low-latency infrastructure and context engineering needed for agents to make relevant, reliable decisions. As organisations move from prototypes to production-scale AI, the challenge is giving systems the right memory and context — and that's where Redis excels."
Trollope emphasised India's importance in this transition, citing its fast-growing startup ecosystem and more than 17 million developers. Attendance at the Bengaluru event, he said, was higher than in any other global market, making India "a cornerstone of Redis' growth strategy."
Redis has introduced LangCache in public preview, a managed semantic caching service aimed at optimising large language model (LLM) performance. The tool is designed to reduce API costs by up to 70 per cent while speeding up responses as much as 15 times for repeated or similar queries.
By storing and retrieving semantically related calls, LangCache enables AI-powered chatbots, agents, and enterprise apps to deliver faster, more consistent results at a fraction of the operational cost.
Alongside this launch, Redis announced its acquisition of Decodable, a real-time data platform. This move enhances Redis' ability to handle streaming pipelines and provide AI systems with fresh, context-rich information.
By integrating Decodable's technology, Redis will make it easier for developers to move live data into its databases, helping organisations scale AI applications with better reliability and efficiency.
Redis also expanded its ecosystem integrations, adding deeper support for agent frameworks such as AutoGen, Cognee, and LangGraph. These connections allow developers to equip AI agents with persistent memory and advanced reasoning capabilities without writing complex custom code.
By simplifying memory management and agent design, Redis is positioning its platform as a powerful backbone for building intelligent, real-time applications across industries.
Redis also unveiled upgrades to its AI infrastructure, including hybrid search improvements, int8 quantized embeddings for faster vector search with lower memory use, and performance boosts in Redis 8.2.
Enhancements to Redis Cloud and Redis Insight aim to simplify monitoring, debugging and syncing data pipelines with legacy systems.
Sameer Dhamane, leader of Redis' India operations, said local developers are directly shaping the company's innovations. "Our community here is among the most dynamic in the world," she said. "Their feedback drives how we make Redis more capable, scalable and secure for AI workloads."
Industry leaders welcomed the announcements. Vivek Parihal, head of Engineering at Purplle, said Redis powers critical systems "from pricing to personalisation," freeing teams to focus on delivering value to customers.
Founded in 2011, Redis now supports more than 10,000 customers globally, with offices in San Francisco, Austin, London and Tel Aviv. The company said its latest moves will make advanced AI more affordable and dependable for startups and enterprises, reinforcing its commitment to India's role as a hub for AI-led growth.
