Red Sea Film Festival honors Hend Sabry, Alia Bhatt globally

Los Angeles, Dec 11 (UNI) Tunisian actress Hend Sabry and Indian actress Alia Bhatt were celebrated at a glamorous gala dinner during the fifth edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival, receiving prestigious honors from the Golden Globes, Variety reported.
Sabry was awarded the Omar Sharif Award, while Bhatt received the Golden Globes Horizon Award.
The star-studded event welcomed acclaimed filmmakers and actors, including directors Sean Baker and Darren Aronofsky, actresses Sigourney Weaver, Naomie Harris, Shailene Woodley, and Olga Kurylenko, actor-director Idris Elba, and actors Édgar Ramírez, Salman Khan, Henry Golding, and Riz Ahmed.
Hend Sabry, known for her nuanced portrayals in films such as The Yacoubian Building, Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story, and Asmaa, has earned international acclaim for bringing complex, socially resonant characters to life.
Alia Bhatt has received critical and commercial success for standout performances in Highway, Raazi, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi, and Gangubai Kathiawadi, establishing her as one of India’s leading contemporary actresses.
Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, praised both awardees, describing Sabry as “a truly iconic performer and humanitarian whose body of work reflects the depth, power, and global impact of Arab cinema.” She said Bhatt’s award “celebrates her exceptional contributions to international cinema.”
Sabry commented on the honor, saying, “My career has been devoted to uplifting women with complex stories, and I am thrilled to be sharing this Golden Globes stage with Alia Bhatt, one of the next generation’s brightest and most talented stars.”
Bhatt added, “The Golden Globes are an iconic part of the global awards universe, and I am delighted to be part of it. I look forward to continuing my career in telling more stories of powerful and deserving women.”
The Golden Globes are owned by Dick Clark Productions, which operates in a joint venture with Eldridge under the umbrella of Variety’s parent company, PMC.
