Lucknow, May 1(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the corona infection in the state was under control as more people are getting cured than fresh cases.
"During the last 24 hrs, as many as 30,317 new cases of Covid were recorded in the state, while 38,826 people got cured in the same period. This situation is better and infection rate in the state is decreasing while recovery is increasing. Similarly, we have to keep the policy of Test, Track and Treat effective. It is very important that the residents of the state make Covid behaviour a part of their lifestyle," said the CM will attending a meeting of the newly constituted Team 9 members here on Saturday.
He said 2,66,326 Covid tests have been conducted in the state in the last 24 hours. Of this, 1,14,172 tests have been conducted through RTPCR medium only. So far, 4.10 crore tests have been conducted in UP.
"Such large number of tests is the best among all the states of the country. Antigen tests need to be increased at the CHC and PHC levels," he said.
The CM said from today, the process of Covid vaccination of people above 18 years of age has started in the state.
"In view of efforts to keep vaccine wastage to a minimum and 18-44 age groups are being vaccinated at 85 centers in seven districts with high infection rates. Along with this, vaccination of people above 45 years of age is being continued at 2500 centers in the state," he said.
He said Oxygen supply is being ensured in the state. "All necessary efforts are being made to balance demand and supply. Oxygen is being supplied from Jamnagar (Gujarat) Durgapur, Barjora (West Bengal) Rourkela.
Private hospitals are also being supplied directly. A new oxygen plant is starting in Agra today. The status of all districts should be monitored directly from the government level," CM said while added rapid efforts are being made by the state government towards setting up an oxygen generation plant.
" Oxygen plants are also being set up by the Government of India. Along with this we also need to explore new options. Interact with experts from technical institutes including IIT Kanpur to explore the possibilities of converting nitrogen to oxygen. A crusher unit in Jhansi has started production of oxygen. Oxygen production can also be done with some technical support in sugar mills, action should be taken in this regard by taking help of experts."
Expressing his concern on the shortage of medicos and para medical staffs to cope with the increased hospital beds, Yogi Adityanath said, "In the midst of changing circumstances, we will need trained human resources in hospitals. In such a situation, services of ex-servicemen, retired doctors, retired army personnel, experienced paramedical staff, medical / paramedical last year students should be taken. It may be better to make efforts like man power bank in the state. Human resources will be made available wherever required. The Medical Education Minister should ensure action in this direction".
