Real Kashmir FC fans disappointed as Mohun Bagan wins I-League match

Srinagar, Jan 5 (UNI) The Real Kashmir FC fans were on Sunday disappointed as the host team lost 0-2 to Mohun Bagan following several missed opportunities and mind-boggling game by the Kolkata giants during a high voltage I-League match at Synthetic Turf Stadium TRC here.
With over 11,500 fans supporting the home team, the Real Kashmir FC and Mohun Bagan started the much anticipated match at around 1130 hrs amid chilly weather conditions with mercury remaining several degrees below normal in Kashmir, which received fresh snowfall on Saturday.

Real Kashmir FC and the Kolkata giants with the help of some great passes were able to create opportunities but failed to convert them into goals in the first half. Mohun Bagan, however, dominated the play in the first half as it kept the possession of the ball most of the times.

As the play resumed in the second half, Mohun Bagan dominated the field from the very beginning. But, it was only in the 27th minute of the second half, the Kolkata giants’ player Joseba Beitia scored a goal. The second goal of the match for Mohun Bagan was scored in the 29th minute by Nongdamba Naorem.

At the end of the game, Mohun Bagan won the match 2-0, keeping its winning streak against Real Kashmir FC in Srinagar intact.

In a press conference after the match, Real Kashmir FC coach David Alexander James Robertson expressed disappointment over the loss and asserted that the team will give its best in the next game. “It is really disappointing that the team lost as all the players played fantastically. The players lost focus for five minutes during which the goals were scored,” he said.

“You can’t lose focus even for a minute when you are playing against a team as experienced as Mohun Bagan. So I’m disappointed that we lost,” he added.

However, he said that the players will leave this defeat behind and prepare themselves for the next match on Friday.

This was the second time in two years that Mohun Bagan had come to Srinagar to play an I-League match against the host. Last year, the Kolkata giants defeated Real Kashmir in Srinagar though tasted defeat in Kolkata.

Mohun Bagan, which had arrived here on Thursday for the match against host, held its practice session on Friday at Synthetic Turf Stadium TRC, where the two teams will lock horns on Sunday.
