Raytheon wins $65Mln subcontract to defend US Military drones from hackers, jammers

Washington, Jan 23 (UNI) The US Air Force’s fleet of RQ-4 Global Hawk zones will receive security upgrades for software that supports ground control systems and on board sensors under a newly awarded $65 million subcontract, defense contractor Raytheon said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services will perform the work, which includes providing software upgrades to defend against cyber threats, as part of a $65 million subcontract from the aircraft manufacturer, Northrop Grumman," the statement said.
Raytheon recently announced a $104 million effort to modernize the Global Hawk ground facilities, moving payload and aircraft operators from shelters into into mission control buildings, the statement noted,Sputnik reported.
The Global Hawk is a high-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft that is typically used to provide all-weather, day or night intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, according to an Air Force website.
