Raymond removes its founder Vijaypat Singhania as company’s

Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) In an unusual development that has sent shock
waves across the Indian corporate world, the Raymond Group has
sacked its founder Vijaypat Singhania as company’s chairman-emeritus.
Mr Singhania, who built Raymond's from scratch, came to know about
his removal through a company’s Board letter last month.
According to reports, Thomas Fernandes, Raymond’s director
(secretarial) and company secretary, said in a letter dated
September 7 that the company had taken strong "dissent" of the
unparliamentary and derogatory language used in senior Singhania’s
letters.
The letter added that the company was in no way concerned with what
is happening between the family and that the decision to take away
the title of 'chairman-emeritus' was taken by the Board due to Mr
Singhania’s behaviour.
Earlier, Mr Singhania had written a series of letters to the company
secretary and then to the Board, stating that he had been kept out
of the loop about board meetings.
Mr Singhania had written a letter addressed to the Board on August
30, in which he had blamed his son Gautam’s manoeuvres for his
removal from the company.
